lyrics

ALMOST IN MEXICO written by Dan Blakeslee on 5/4/19 ©2023

I was rambling through Texas down in El Paso.
I was headed to Rosa’s, I could eat a cow whole.
I wasn’t paying attention, I was fiddlin’ the radio.
I almost crossed the Rio Grande down to Mexico.

Never had trouble with the border patrol,
The only weed I’ve got is tumblin’.
But I will gladly be accused of trippin’ on the road.

I was looking at them mountains eatin’ my rice and beans.
When a state trooper sat next to me looking mighty mean.
He was givin’ the hairy eyeball, starin’ at my mustache.
So I bolted through the back door like I was takin’ all the cash.

Never had trouble with the border patrol,
The only weed I’ve got is tumblin’.
But I will gladly be accused of trippin’ on the road.

I know one day I’ll get there right now time is short.
I’ll even comb my hair and produce my passport.
Just give me sarsaparilla, no need for coke to snort.
I’ll dance with señorita‘s instead of spending time in court.
